Model: 4 Cup Re-Engineered Brown Betty
Manufacturer: Cauldon Ceramics
Design: Ian McIntyre
Material: Red Etruria Marl Clay
Capacity: 0.9 L
The archetypal Brown Betty teapot has been re-engineered by ceramicist Ian McIntyre and traditional redware-manufacturer, Cauldon Ceramics. The new edition reintroduces previous innovations in the teapot's history, including the 'non-drip spout' and 'locking lid' patented by Alcock, Lindley and Bloore in 1920.
The design has been further enhanced with the introduction of a loose tea basket as well as subtle adjustments to the neck and foot, enabling the lid to be inverted into the body to allow for efficient storage.
Great care has been taken to preserve the history and tradition of the Brown Betty, while implementing new production processes. The teapot's design has retained its recognisable portly shape and rich tone, a result of the long-established red Etruria Marl clay and treacle brown Rockingham glaze.
